Moving Families Forward

Vibrant, thriving communities attract families and successful businesses to our area, creating strong growth for the future. In Madison, I will continue to move our communities forward through strong leadership by enacting legislation that supports strong workforce and economic development, conservative fiscal responsibility, high quality education for all Wisconsin students, and that strengthens school safety and security with a focus on mental health. I have the skills necessary to effectively support our families and communities for a successful recovery from this crisis.

As a twice elected Board Member of the Neenah Joint School District, Treasurer and Legislative Committee Chair, I have gained important knowledge and experience at the state and local level in working collaboratively to get things done in a fiscally responsible manner for our students, staff and community. In times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, our communities deserve capable, forward thinking leadership from our government that I can provide. We must have the courage and strength to forever change the way we do things on many levels to succeed in this dynamic new normal. I feel strongly that the key to recovery rests solidly in the hands of local, state, and community leaders taking decisive actions. My commitment to you in Madison is to thoroughly review this crisis and make important changes in policy through effective legislation that protects and invests in families, communities, business and education.

As a School Board Member and a parent, I know that a high quality education is the key to a successful future. This includes focusing on preparing our students for career, college, and life. During times of economic uncertainty, this is especially important as is the case with the Covid-19 crisis. In Madison, I will make sure that our leaders put policy in place to quickly respond to changes in economic development and the shifting employment landscape.  We must ensure that our families and community members can be successful and thrive. This can be done through understanding where the new jobs are and developing deep partnerships between business, industry, secondary education, tech schools & colleges for training and certification.

As a long time community volunteer in organizations including the Neenah-Menasha Emergency Society preventing homelessness, I understand the need to support our community members, especially during times of economic uncertainty. This pandemic has created the need for immediate and adaptive economic recovery for our community, and those around the state and nation. I understand the importance of a responsible and timely response and will work toward that support for our communities, families, businesses, and industries. For more than a decade I have been committed to the Neenah-Menasha Emergency Society, a 100+ year old volunteer organization that strives to prevent homelessness by providing assistance to those in need in our local community. Emergency management of essential resources will need to be prioritized in an efficient, fiscally responsible manner to support all our residents.

As a current Board Member for The Samaritan Counseling Center I understand the importance of mental health and the impact it has on success in life. These are trying times for adults and children as we navigate through the changing landscape of social distancing, closing schools and businesses, potential loss of employment and income, and uncertainty about the future. I will make mental health a focus in Madison and will work toward making sure policy and funding are in place to support programs that offer assistance to our families and community members allowing all of us to emerge successfully from this crisis.

My experience has given me the connections and tools to identify and solve complicated community issues with local control and resources. Together we can be Fox Cities Strong!
