Working to Reduce the Cost of Health Care

As a spouse of a successful Neenah physician I have seen first-hand innovative ways where we can improve healthcare. As a Neenah Joint School District board member and Treasurer, I also fully understand the financial burden our district and community members face when purchasing health insurance for individuals, families, and businesses. We must continue to work to reduce the cost of healthcare, prescription drug costs and out of pocket costs for all our community members.

The Fox Cities area has many health care providers that are on the cutting edge of cost reduction and containment using collectives and other methods to save patients time and money. As a fiscally responsible member of the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education, I have experience in the review and selection of cost effective insurance plans that our district, staff and families can afford, and I am proud to be able to offer our employees a HSA as part of their employment package.  Additionally, we have worked to decrease healthcare costs for our employees by investing in an on-site clinic where health services and physical therapy can be offered at a reduced cost. For our district, healthcare is one of our major expenses, and in Madison, I will work to lower healthcare costs, including prescription drug costs, for business and community members.

Given our current restrictions on face-to-face meetings, and our need to rely on other delivery systems such as technology to continue to provide healthcare and mental health care to our community, I would look to review cost effective and accessible ways to give access to tele-health and tele-counseling when serving our community in Madison.
